Beeswax Wrap Refresher Bar
Whether you are looking to complete a DIY or get a group of friends together for a socially fun craft. This is Refresher Bar will make that project even easier.
Beeswax Wraps are a perfect way to reduce your usage of single use items (both plastic and tinfoil) and once you learn how easy it is to use them all while helping the environment . This 58 gram bar will be enough to make three 14"x14" or six 10"x10" wraps from scratch (depending on fabric thickness, 100% Cotton is recommended). When using to refresh your existing reusable food wraps, it will last you far longer.
Materials: Beeswax, Tree Resin, and Jojoba Oil
Beeswax wraps act like a natural barrier, a bit like a fruit’s skin protects its flesh. My beeswax wraps contain other natural ingredients for more benefits: jojoba oil (antifungal as well) and tree resin (antibacterial and antiseptic) for instance. Beeswax wraps are an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic wrap and tinfoil. Use to wrap a sandwich, cover leftovers, or wrap up some fruit for on the go. These wraps mold to whatever you’re putting it on using the heat of your hands. These are a great addition to your plastic free kitchen, whether you’re just starting out or experienced.
Care: After use, wash in cool water with soap and let air dry. Will last six months to one year, depending on care and level of use. When done, order a refresher bar to reinvigorate it or compost.
Warnings:
Do not put on anything warm.
Do not put on acidic food. The acid will eat at the wrap, weakening the coating.
Do not use on raw meat/fish. The bacteria in the food needs hot water to kill.
Directions: Simply use any household grater to create enough shavings to lightly sprinkle over the entire wrap. Place your cotton fabric/worn-out wrap on a sheet of parchment paper and sprinkle the grated bits over the wrap before covering with the second sheet of parchment paper. Use a hot iron (do not use the mist setting) to melt the wax mixture and distribute it across the wrap to all the edges. Immediately remove the parchment paper and carefully grab two corner edges of the refreshed wrap to hold up and lightly fan until dry. Continue to use the same pieces of parchment paper until all wraps are complete then no wax is wasted.
